Its experience in Ecuador has enabled the expansion of its methodologies to Bolivia, Argentina, and Peru since 2007.

Child Labor Prevention in Ecuador

Child Labor Prevention

From 2005 to 2019, projects were implemented to prevent and eradicate child labor through education in indigenous communities of the Sierra and the Amazon, and in tobacco-growing agricultural zones, building local capacities for prevention and awareness about child and adolescent labor.

DYA Health Projects in Ecuador

Health

In 2005, DYA launched the "DOTS" project in 100% of Health Units in the Amazon for tuberculosis and malaria control. Since 2016, a health promotion and preventive health project has been operating in Monte Sinaí across various thematic areas, with emphasis on HIV prevention, tuberculosis, strengthening child nutrition, adolescent pregnancy prevention, and support for the comprehensive development of children and adolescents. In Guayaquil, since 2021, the organization serves 2,400 people in situations of human mobility and host communities, promoting access to primary health care services, and implements an early childhood care program.

DYA Education Programs in Ecuador

Education

Since 2009, DYA has developed re-schooling and educational access programs for vulnerable youth and children in Ecuador. By 2012, the reincorporation of 8,000 excluded adolescents and young people into the education system was facilitated. Then, between 2014 and 2016, the re-schooling of 50,000 students was supported. In 2020-2021, a program was implemented to ensure educational continuity for 6,000 children. Since 2021, educational opportunities have been provided to migrant children and adolescents and host communities who need support to resume or strengthen their studies.
