DYA was established in Peru in 2011 with the objective of implementing agricultural child labor eradication strategies. It became a benchmark in the field, contributing to public policy with agricultural production and educational inclusion models. Today, DYA in Peru also develops health and protection strategies linked to human mobility.

Agricultural Child Labor in Peru

Agricultural Child Labor

DYA implemented the "Semilla" project in Junín, Pasco, and Huancavelica, funded by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL). We developed a model for the prevention and eradication of agricultural child labor that combined advocacy and public policy strengthening actions, community mobilization, strategies for improving agricultural production, and addressing educational needs. As a result, we assisted more than 3,000 farming families and prevented or removed 6,000 children and adolescents from child labor. We developed three models that were transferred to the Peruvian government: the Child Labor-Free Seal (SELTI), the municipal model for identifying and addressing child labor, and the rural educational service model "Secundaria Tutorial."

Migrant Population services in Peru

Migrant Population

Since 2021, DYA in Peru has developed strategies and services to assist the migrant population, as a response to improve their living conditions and achieve their social integration through the Integrando Horizontes, Respirar, and Servir projects. We develop initiatives for primary health care, prevention of gender-based violence, child protection, access to and permanence in the education system, and technical training for adolescents and youth. In these initiatives, DYA acted as an implementing partner for the international organizations IRC and PADF. In 2024, DYA launched the educational inclusion and permanence project for migrant children and adolescents and host community members, thanks to funding from the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the U.S. Department of State.

Civil Society in Peru

Civil Society

Together with CESIP and the Global March, DYA implements the Catalizador Project, which aims to strengthen the actions and capacities of civil society and children and adolescents to end child labor in joint action with the Peruvian government.
