The Contener Program During Vacations
During January, the Contener Program continues opening its doors in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood of Apóstoles (Misiones, Argentina) with vacation workshops designed to accompany children even during school recess. 61 children participate in recreational, artistic, and sports activities, and receive daily breakfast.
"In January we started the vacation workshops at the Santa Bárbara support center, where children come for recreational days with play and art activities," explains Fabiana Cabral, one of the teachers. "There are children who don't have the opportunity to enjoy recreation in other places, and here we try to make their days pleasant, fun, and different."
Activities include physical education, relay games, circuits with hoops and balls, and traditional games. There are also days dedicated to art: masks, collective murals, and small theatrical works.
The program also guarantees daily breakfast. "We vary it: fruit salad, smoothies, milk and bread. And special days like movie day with popcorn and juice," says Fabiana.
"By having different ages, something nice happens: the older ones help the younger ones, they feel useful. And the younger ones find role models. This space allows them to release emotions through play, movement, and laughter."
Sustaining the program year-round is possible thanks to DYA, the Bronislada Kruchowski de Szychowski Foundation of La Cachuera, the Municipality of Apóstoles, and donors.
