Posadas–Encarnación Binational Table

Binational Table

On June 26, the second meeting of the Posadas–Encarnación Binational Table was held in Encarnación, bringing together public agencies, social organizations, unions, and business sector representatives from Argentina and Paraguay.

A problem that requires coordinated responses

Paraguay's consul in Misiones, Lourdes Rivas, emphasized that the border must be a space for integration, not exclusion.

Dr. Gerardo Corres, Mercosur's Working Subgroup No. 10 coordinator, stressed this table is part of the Regional Plan for Child Labor Eradication. "Kids should be in school, studying."

Concrete advances and agreements

Advances in child labor prevention training for border control officials were shared. A binational diagnostic study coordinated by the National University of Misiones and the University of Itapúa was presented.

Key actions agreed:

  • A training day for teachers from both cities, scheduled for September.
  • An updated binational resource guide with institutional contacts from Posadas and Encarnación.

DYA celebrates these meeting spaces that advance comprehensive strategies to prevent child labor with a rights approach.
