Lomas de Zamora, April 30, 2026.

Members of the community organization Wawa Wasi “Caritas Alegres” took part in two key trainings within DYA's new project in Lomas de Zamora: electronic invoicing and healthy bread-making.

Wawa Wasi (“House of Children” in Quechua) is much more than a community kindergarten. It is a project sustained by women in the 17 de Noviembre neighborhood who, day after day, ensure education, school support, care, and meals for more than 50 children. And to sustain that service, they also run productive enterprises that allow them to self-manage resources.

In 2026, Desarrollo y Autogestión (DYA) launched a project funded by NPNP — Luxembourg to strengthen community-based social organizations such as Wawa Wasi, support educational services, and promote community awareness in Lomas de Zamora. The project includes pedagogical accompaniment, equipment and the opening of new classrooms, school-support and recreational spaces, and trainings in different areas to consolidate the sustainability of these organizations.

Training on electronic invoicing at Wawa Wasi

On Saturday, April 25, the DYA team, together with the kindergarten's assistants and teachers, received a training on the use of the ARCA electronic invoicing system. This is a fundamental step toward the formalization of their work and access to state support programs. The meeting was also a space to share concerns about the situation of the Plan Volver al Trabajo, whose mass terminations have affected many women workers across the country.

Training on healthy bread-making at the UNLA Bakery Pilot Plant

Women from Wawa Wasi also took part in a training on healthy bread manufacturing practices at the Bakery Pilot Plant of the National University of Lanús (UNLA). The bakery enterprise is one of the main sources of income to sustain this community space. The training was made possible thanks to the cooperation between DYA and the Department of Productive and Technological Development of UNLA — Bakery Pilot Plant.

A road that is just beginning

These two trainings mark the beginning of a cycle of training and accompaniment that will continue throughout the year. The goal is clear: to strengthen the capacities of community organizations so that they remain protagonists in guaranteeing children's rights, improving their management, their autonomy, and building, together with the State, fairer and more protective environments.
